Welcome
You are very welcome here
Welcome to the fourth and final stage of the Following Jesus pathway. Begin helped you take your first steps: the gospel, new life in Christ, and first steps in Scripture, prayer and church. Establish helped you understand what Christians believe and how that truth shapes life. Grow helped you grow in character and everyday life. Multiply asks a new question: how can I join Christ’s mission and help others follow Jesus, without manipulating or controlling anyone?
Over ten lessons we look at being sent by Jesus, living as a witness in everyday life, telling your story honestly, explaining the gospel clearly, responding to questions, using your gifts, walking with a new believer, reading Scripture and praying with someone, listening and knowing your limits, and leading a healthy discipleship group.
Multiply is not about becoming a salesperson for God or a spiritual authority over others. It is about joining what Jesus is already doing, with humility, respect and healthy accountability. Everything here rests on what came before: the gospel, the truths of the faith, and Christlike character.
If you are starting with Multiply, you are very welcome. If the Christian gospel is new or unclear to you, we recommend watching Begin, Lesson 1 first. It explains the good news of Jesus that everything in Multiply builds on. If you are still exploring who Jesus is, you are welcome too.
Every practice is an invitation, not a test. No one will ask you to read aloud, pray aloud or share your personal story. Many assignments involve people in your life, but you never need to write down or share their names or circumstances; initials or a short description are enough. You can take Multiply on your own, with a friend or mentor, or with a church group; one lesson a week works well.
If you or someone else needs support or urgent help at any point, start with the Support Page “Safety and Support: Start Here”.
Inside each lesson
Five movements
- 1Read the ScriptureThe two main passages, read aloud, with the lesson’s question and a link back to what you have already learned.
- 2Understand the original meaningWhere it helps, we look at an original Bible word. Some lessons have none.
- 3Explore the backgroundThe setting of the passages, and where they connect in the Bible’s larger story.
- 4Understand the teachingFour memorable parts from the passages and an everyday story, with a fair note where Christians differ.
- 5Practise what you have learnedA practical clarification, this week’s assignment, a short summary, and a prayer.
From Establish
Four questions for reading the Bible
You learned these four simple questions in Establish, Lesson 1. In Multiply you will keep using them in the reading plans, and in Lesson 8 you will use them to read the Bible with someone else.
On each lesson page
Six simple parts
- 1Watch and listenA narrated lesson of about 14 to 18 minutes, with illustrations and captions.
- 2Transcript and ScriptureRead the full transcript or check the Bible references whenever you need to.
- 3This week’s assignmentOne practical step to help you put the lesson into practice, often with a short line for each of the four parts.
- 4Seven-day reading planOne short passage a day, with a question to guide you. If you miss a day, simply begin again the next day.
- 5Talk about itThree questions for your group, a mentor or a friend.
- 6Go deeperOptional: notes where Christians differ, practical help, the full chapter from the book, and a worksheet.
Every lesson page also has a short “Pause and seek help” note with a link to the Support Pages, and most lessons include a Look back at earlier lessons.
When you have watched the teaching, tap “I have completed this lesson”. You can do the assignment and reading plan during the week.
My Disciple-Making Plan
Six parts, prepared step by step
As you go through the lessons, you will prepare the six parts of a simple plan, a little at a time. In the final week, you will complete it privately on your own page: My Disciple-Making Plan. It is a plan for faithful, healthy, unpressured disciple-making, not a test or a commitment to results.
The ten lessons
What you will learn
- Lesson 1Every Disciple Is SentJohn 20:21–22 and Acts 1:8
about 18 minIsn't sharing my faith the job of pastors and evangelists? I'm not confident, and I don't want to pressure anyone. - Lesson 2Living as a Witness in Everyday LifeMatthew 5:13–16 and 1 Peter 3:15–16
about 16 minMost of my life is work, family and neighbours, not church events. Can ordinary life really point people to Jesus? - Lesson 3Telling Your Story HonestlyMark 5:18–20 and Acts 26:1–23
about 16 minMy story isn't dramatic. And some parts of my past are painful or private. What should I say if someone asks why I follow Jesus? - Lesson 4Explaining the Gospel ClearlyRomans 10:9–17 and Acts 8:26–40
about 18 minIf someone asked me what Christianity is really about, I'm not sure I could explain it clearly. What is the gospel, and how do I share it without sounding scripted or pushy? - Lesson 5Responding to Questions With Truth and HumilityColossians 4:5–6 and Acts 17:16–34
about 17 minPeople ask me hard questions: Why does God allow suffering? Aren't all religions the same? How can you trust the Bible? I freeze or get defensive. How should I respond? - Lesson 6Using Your Gifts to Serve OthersRomans 12:3–8 and 1 Peter 4:10–11
about 16 minPeople say every Christian has gifts, but I don't know what mine are. And when I've served before, I either felt useless or got overloaded. How do I find my place? - Lesson 7Walking With a New Believer1 Thessalonians 2:7–12 and Acts 18:24–28
about 14 minSomeone I know has just started following Jesus and has asked me to help them. Where do I start, and how do I help without controlling them or getting out of my depth? - Lesson 8Reading Scripture and Praying With SomeoneLuke 24:13–35 and Acts 16:13–15
about 15 minI'd like to read the Bible with a friend, but I'm not a teacher. How do I lead a conversation without preaching at them? And how do we pray together without it feeling awkward? - Lesson 9Listening, Safeguarding and Knowing Your LimitsExodus 18:13–26 and Ephesians 5:11–13
about 15 minPeople have started telling me personal things. What if someone tells me something serious? Should I keep it secret? How do I know when it's beyond me? - Lesson 10Leading and Multiplying a Healthy Discipleship GroupMark 3:13–15 and 2 Timothy 2:1–2
about 16 minI've been asked to lead a small group, or I'd like to start one. How do I lead without dominating, keep people safe, and help others lead too?
